Poseidon
Modern day weapons we can't defend against
Joel 2:1-2 (NKJV)
Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the Lord is coming, For it is at hand:
A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, Like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, The like of whom has never been; Nor will there ever be any such after them, Even for many successive generations.
I hope you all can see by now that the rest of the world doesn’t see us as a credible threat anymore. We are just the biggest UN puppet in the world. I wrote this a couple of weeks ago, but for some reason, decided not to publish it.
Reading through Michael’s article below, led me to stumble upon a new Russian autonomous weapon. What people are calling propaganda, I see as yet another warning from Russia.
The quote below comes from The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists. Some are claiming that it is just a weapon on paper being used as fearful propaganda, but I believe it is actually real—just not completed. It’s really not hard to believe it exists, after all most of the attacks we have been seeing in recent times are in the form of drones.
Russia’s Poseidon—also known in the United States as Kanyon, Ocean Multipurpose System, and Status-6—was first revealed by the Russian Navy in 2015 and reportedly tested for the first time in November 2016. The torpedo—a nuclear-powered underwater drone equipped with nuclear weapons—is designed to be launched from submarines. The first Poseidon is expected to be deployed by 2027.
There is buzz that this new weapon is poised to shake the landscape of modern warfare. And this may owe less to its borrowed name than to some unmatched features—at least on paper.
Powered by a compact nuclear reactor, it is believed the Poseidon could travel at unprecedented speeds of 100 knots (185 kilometers per hour), have a range of approximately 10,000 kilometers, and operate at depths of up to 1,000 meters. Designed to evade detection by acoustic tracking devices and other traps, the Poseidon has a diameter of approximately 1.6 to two meters. Particularly riveting is the torpedo’s devastating payload: a nuclear warhead with a likely yield of at least several megatons (with early reports suggesting it could yield up to 100 megatons). For comparison, Russia’s Tsar Bomba—the most powerful nuclear weapon ever tested—had an estimated blast yield of about 50 megatons.
The problem is, our Navy is in a severely weakened state compared to past eras. We haven’t kept up in the arms race, and entered into a new era of warfare with yesterday’s technology. We can’t defend against these autonomous weapons efficiently. From a report written in May:
Since its involvement began, the Navy has used some $1 billion-worth of munitions knocking threats out of the sky and out of the water, Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro told lawmakers in April.
The Red Sea trade route is still under major threat from the Houthis so most cargo is being routed around the tip of Africa. Cargo lines still using the Red Sea have seen their insurance rates double:
LONDON/ADEN, Aug 28 (Reuters) - The cost of insurance for ships sailing through the Red Sea has nearly doubled after Yemen's Houthis attacked a tanker that appears to be leaking oil, with environmental fears growing for trade route, industry sources said on Wednesday.
In my opinion, since this major trade route is still largely closed, we lost. Hopefully, the Truman Carrier Strike Group, which deployed today for the Med, will prove me wrong and get things done the way the Navy is supposed to.
The role of America’s Navy is both vast and dependent upon circumstance. It involves everything from engaging in combat and warfare support, to keeping waterways safe and open for global commerce, to deterring sea piracy and drug trafficking. And when called upon, it’s a force that readily answers the need for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief anywhere, anytime – to help American citizens and citizens of the world.
I’ve always been a fan of the amazing firepower we have created. I’ll always be a kid at heart, loving ships, planes and trains—and especially our firepower. However, I fear we have fallen behind, and showed our weakness in the Red Sea. In the Era of drones, we launched another conventional fighter aircraft in the F-35. Yes it is capable, but is it going to actually be useful?
To the King of Kings, who reigns in truth and grace,
Whose mercy endures through every age,
Let all who are lost and weary hear His voice today.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son,
That whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Seek Him while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.
Repent, believe, and receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord,
To whom belongs all glory, honor, and praise,
Now and forevermore. Amen.
